If I would have to summarize this Hotel in one word I would say: Relaxation!

But let’s start from the beginning, early November I was invited to stay at the two years old Tauern Spa in Kaprun near Zell Am See in Austria. The 4 Star Hotel is divided into two parts; the hotel with private spa and the public spa.

Welcome to Tauern Spa!

When you enter the spacious lobby the friendly staff greets you with a welcome drink of your choice. They have most of the paperwork done already and you only have to fill out some last things before they hand you the electronic key that is build into a wristband. With this wristband you can open your room, the spa and get access to the public spa.

Personal space is written big at Tauern Spa

When opening your room you might be surprised by the size of the room. A big closet on the right offers enough space for your bags and clothes and the couch on the left invites to sit down and relax after a long day in the Spa.

From your comfy king size bed you have an amazing view at the 3000m high Kitzsteinhorn and the Alps. A view to look forward to wake up when you go to bed!

To infinity and beyond!

I’m not exaggerating, the infinity pool on the third floor of the Tauern Spa goes beyond infinity. It’s made of glass and while you sit outside in the cold the water is at thermal 30 degrees.

And if the view from your room is already phenomenal, the view in the spa is to die for!

If you didn’t know how to relax before, this place will show you how. Cozy daybeds help you to relax all your joints and muscles and the splashing of the water mixed with the music and the warm air will slowly make you sleepy!

After swimming and napping it’s time for relaxing and there is no better way of doing this while sitting in front of a fireplace with hot tea and some dry fruits.

Magic hands can help you to relax even more…

They truly are magic. These guys know how to help you to fall in a coma of relaxation. At the Alpin Spa & Cosmetic Center they offer all kinds of treatments from hot stone to facial massages they truly know their business and will help you as much as they can to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Peter, one of the masseurs learned the techniques from monks in a monastery in Thailand.

Food lovers heaven

Austrians know how to enjoy… not only they have this amazing Spa but they serve you the best food from the region. First things first and let’s start with the breakfast; a huge variety of bread, cheese, ham and confiture is offered for breakfast. My personal highlights were the orange juice squeezer and the honeycomb where you could spoon your honey.

The dinner always changes but what doesn’t change is the several courses you’ll get. Every evening they have a 5 course dinner with the most delicious meals.

Active Relaxation – Is this possible?

It is here! Tauern Spa is located only 15 minutes from the lifts of the Kitzsteinhorn one of the highest mountains of Austria and the only glacier of the Salzburger Land. Snow is almost guaranteed at the top and the quality of snow is pretty good!

The Kitzsteinhorn is located at the hohen tauern national park and is perfect for a day of skiing and snowboarding. Afterwards you can come back and relax the hours between skiing and dinner in the spa.

But even during the summer there is enough to do in the area. The hotel offers daily activities in the region. Hiking is a great option since beautiful mountains and forests surround the hotel and the crystal clear Zeller Lake is also only a stone’s throw away.

What is important to you when you book a Spa Hotel? We are looking forward to your thoughts in the comments below!

Disclaimer: I was invited by Tauern Spa to review their property. However, all thoughts are mine and haven’t been influenced by the delicious food and the amazing spa area.
