Hostel Review: Central Backpack King in Budapest

I stayed at the Central Backpack King in Budapest in October last year during our Scavenger Hunt Tour through Europe.

Great and central location

The Central Backpack King is located on the pest site of the city. Centrally located in the fifth district of Budapest right around the corner of the St. Stephen Basilica the hostel offers everything a backpacker could wish for.

If you do long term travel your accommodation standards are rather high and after having stayed at Kismet Dao Hostel in Brasov my standards for hostels are even higher 🙂 At the Central Backpack King they offer some great services and I’m happy to see that hostels are improving their services.

Free Wifi, Free walking tours, Free Coffee and tea and DVD’s are only a few of the things they are offering. The staff is very friendly and helpful and gave us a free map and recommended some things to do during our stay.

Nice chilling area

They have a big living room with 3 couches where guests can relax and watch some TV or just take one of the many books and read a little.

From the living room you have a nice view down the street. Especially in the morning during sunrise the early sunrays hitting the city magically illuminate the street.

The only thing that I personally didn’t like was the shower, they only have two showers and they seemed not functioning correctly when we stayed there.

Room prices start at 15 €, little expensive for Budapest since you can get a shared room from 7 € a night.

Have you been there? What is your opinion about this Hostel?

    Hi Sebastian,

You really had a nice chilling area. That was a cool place to go. I will be having my vacation there very soon 🙂 Thank you for this information…

I’m not really the hostel kind of girl–I’d rather pay a little more and get a hotel (even if it’s a budget one)!
