Fleischers Hotel is one of the region’s oldest and most popular hotels and lays directly at the E16 speedway. As a huge building with its little towers and jutties it looks like a wooden castle. The interior is held in rich Norwegian traditional style with classy woods, gold and oil paintings. Well maintained and clean the hotel impresses with educated and friendly staff and a nice pool and sauna area in the basement. The views are stunning as Fleischers is located right across the lake. Another big plus is the huge parking space across the street which is free for hotel guests (this is not self-speaking in Norway).
Unfortunately the fitness facilities only consists of one spinning bike, which can easily be pardoned as mountains to hike, seas to swim and canyons to climb are just around the corner.
We lived in one of the hotels 115 rooms which was made for families and inhabited four of the 219 beds. The main room was spacious and clean. Stuffed with a desk, two comfortable wing chairs and a side table it made an exclusive and well lighted accommodation. The mini bar was extensive but the fridge was dirty. The king-size bed made us sleep like babies and there were enough plugs to feed all our electronic devices. A flat screen was attached to the wall. The children’s room was much smaller but the beds offered space for adults and were as comfortable as the king bed. In the bathroom there was a luxurious shower with rain forest function and matching sanitary equipment. Housekeeping barely touched anything but we had a lot of bags and equipment laying around so they might have been afraid to confuse us by putting everything together. A point of criticism was the information brochure inside the desk. It was torn and did not match with the overall impression.
Our package included both breakfast and dinner so we were in luck to taste and test both buffets. The dinner buffet offered an extensive selection of seafood, salads, and two sorts of meat. These you could either have with rice, potatoes or pasta. The breakfast buffet consisted of a great variety of breads, bread rolls and pancakes. Furthermore we could choose from different cheese, meat and jams. Additionally Yoghurts, a small muesli buffet and some fruits, vegetables and salads were offered. The breads and spread tasted fresh and nice as well as fruits and veggies. The muesli was rich and the pancakes tasted addicting. For drinks we could chose from several juices, milk with different amounts of fat, chocolate milk and fresh coffee.
