Water, Weed & Wanderlust – Welcome to Amsterdam!

Now that you read the word “weed” I have your attention, Amsterdam is a crazy city with interesting activates, museum, sights and much more. Furthermore you will find interesting Amsterdam hotels like the houseboat Hotel, the Qbic hotel or the Inntel Hotel, which will help to make your stay unforgettable.

What to do in Amsterdam

Visit NEMO… not the fish!

Weather you are a single traveler, traveling with friends or you are traveling with your family the science museum NEMO is definitely worth a visit and wakes up the explorer in each of us. With five floors filled with everything in science and technology NEMO is the largest science center in the Netherlands and shows you why bridges are so strong, what you will look like in 30 years or how to purify water… You will easily spent 2-3 hours at NEMO!

Wander around the canals

As most Amsterdam to do list, I also have to recommend you to walk around the canals. From the NEMO science museum you have a great starting point. If you have enough time walk all the way down to the central station and continues to the Prinsengracht, which is one of the most beautiful of Amsterdam.

Visit Anne Frank House in Amsterdam

One of the most visited places of Amsterdam is the house of former resident Anne Frank. It’s located at the Prinsengracht and you need at least an hour inside. If you want to visit the Anne Frank House I’d recommend going there early in the morning before all the tourists decide to go. You can sometimes wait more than 2 hours in the sun before you are granted access. The Anne Frank House opens daily at 9 AM!

At the Leidseplein you can stop for a drink at one of the busiest squares of Amsterdam. Leidseplein is also a great way for going out at night!

Cliché, but when in Rome… the iAmsterdam sign!

If you still have some time and want the traditional photo with the “iAmsterdam” sign walk down to the Museumplein where you will find the sign and the well-known Rijksmuseum, which is also worth a visit if you have more time in the city.

Have you visited Amsterdam? How was it? It would be great to read your opinion in the comments below!

Whenever I read Anne Frank’s diary, I always wanted to visit the place where she stayed. Recently I got a very good opportunity to visit the place. I was really happy to visit the place and I felt very sad for the people who suffered at that time. I also visited the NEMO museum. As mentioned I enjoyed the place.

Great list! Wandering around the canals is one of my favorite things to do in Amsterdam, especially around the Jordaan. As a local expat I would also suggest a picnic in Vondelpark in summer, nothing better! 🙂

    Hi Sebastian,

I love Amsterdam! We’ve visited several times, and every time I fall in love with it all over again. The Van Gogh Museum there is one of my favorite museums anywhere, and I love visiting the Anne Frank House. And, of course, the canals, coffee shops, shopping and masses of friendly people – locals and fellow visitors – help make it uniquely Amsterdam.

    Thanks for sharing your trip!
